Cat Age → Human Years Calculator
FAQ
How accurate is this calculator?
It’s a fun, simplified estimate based on typical veterinary guidelines. Every cat is different, so always check with your vet for personalized advice.
Can kittens use this calculator?
Yes, but kittens grow quickly and often break the normal rules. For anything health-related, your veterinarian will give the most accurate guidance.
Does breed affect the results?
Yes. Some breeds mature faster or have longer average lifespans. These calculators give general estimates for most domestic cats.
How do you convert cat years to human years?
The first cat year roughly equals 15 human years, the second year adds about 9 more, and each year after that adds around 4–5 human years. This calculator uses a blended version of those guidelines.
Is cat age the same for all breeds?
Not exactly. Some breeds mature a little faster or slower, but the general aging curve is similar for most domestic cats.
Are indoor cats actually younger in “human years”?
Indoor cats often live longer, but their biological aging rate is similar. Lifespan differences come from safety, diet, and vet care—not a different aging curve.
